It was established in the year 2011 and it is a privately funded and managed education institution. The university is located in Banaadir, Somalia. JUST as the university is abbreviated is committed to becoming a renowned institution for excellence, innovation and research, in Africa in in the world. The university was established seeing gaps that needed to be filled in the nation's education sector and the development of skilled manpower in different parts of the economy. Jamhuriya University of Science and Technology came in to train her students to be competent and useful in those areas. It implores excellent teaching methods and resource to give her students and optimal learning environment. It also makes sure they are exposed to real life example of on how classroom knowledge is applied. The university is in collaboration with several other universities in the country in order to achieve her research goals.
