Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University is a South African based university that was established in 2014, it is one of the nation's contemporary universities. It is a public university and as the name implies in is a health centric university. It is one of the few of its kind in the country and in Africa at large. The university is located in Pretoria, South Africa. It aspires to becoming the university that will best used as the reference point for knowledge in health in the country, the university is committed to providing quality health care and service and get students to be competent on the international standards. Student are exposed to as much theoretical knowledge as practical knowledge during their academic stay in the university. The university is a research based university that is also committed to the discovery of new breakthrough medical knowledge that could solve problems with her immediate society and the world, to pull this off the university must be involved in some level of collaborations with hospitals and other universities in the country. Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University has a small student population with a good amount of staff for their training, there is a good student to staff relationship in this university. It is a coeducation university with no affiliations with any culture or religion, it also welcomes both national and international students thus making it very diverse. The university offers full time undergraduate and postgraduate academic degree programs in about five fields some of which include, the faculty of science and technology, faculty of medicine and several others.
