University of Papua New Guinea is a publicly funded and manage university that was established in the 1960s, the university was established in 1966 in the largest city in the country Port Moresby. Having being registered and accredited by the nation's educational bodies as a full time four year university offering undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in several fields of study.

The university being the first in the nation since its inceptions has been committed to providing quality education to her students and leading in pioneer research for the improvement of the nation and the world. The university of Papua New Guinea has no religious affiliation and currently works with a per semester Academic calendar.

Tuitions is affordable going for about 7,500 Papua New Guinean Kina (as at the time of this writing). The university has a large student body with a health staff student ratio to match. The student body is also quite diverse with students from different socio-cultural backgrounds and origins. University of Papua New Guinea welcomes international students into their institution offering over one hundred academic programs cutting across different fields. Some of these fields include science and technology, social sciences and arts, business management amongst others.
