Solomon Island National University

Solomon Island national university as at the time of this writing is the only university located in the country. The university is located in the country’s capital city called Honiara, the town has a relatively fair human population. Solomon island national university is a publicly funded and managed institution and was established in the year 2012. It is officially registered and accredited to function as a public coeducational institution.

She offers full time bachelor’s degree programs in several field cutting across arts, social sciences, management, science and technology amongst others. The university has four schools which include: school of technology and maritime studies, school of nursing and allied health services, school of natural resources and applied sciences, school of education and humanities and finally the school of business and management, a proper breakdown of academic programs offered by the university is provided in this page.

The town of Honiara where Solomon island national university resides is predominantly a Christian community however the university has no religious affiliation. The university has a relatively low student body which is also decently diverse, admission into this university is very competitive as the university admits both local and international students. Tuition is also affordable going for between about 4,000 Solomon Island dollars to over 10,000 Solomon island dollars. The university is also involved in research. The college has a fair student to staff ratio providing enough lecturers to cater for student’s needs. The university runs on a semester academic calendar and provides decent facilities for her students, some of these facilities include accommodation facilities i.e. hostels, well equipped facilities for recreation and sport, a well-furnished library, good road network etc.
